Salma Sultan is best remembered for her news reading and her signature style, a beautiful rose neatly tucked below her ear and her unique saree-draping style.

Salma did her schooling and graduation from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh and did her graduation from Bhopal post-graduation in English from Indraprastha College for Women, Delhi. Simultaneously, she also gave the audition for an announcer on Doordarshan . She was born as second child to scholar and secretary Mohammed Asghar Ansari.

Salma became a household name in the late 60s and 70’s went on to work for three decades till her VRS in late 90’s. While reading the news she expanded the scope at work and entered into the world of direction.

Her well known serials “Panchtantra Se Suno Kahani”, “Swar Mere Tumhare” and “Jalte Sawal” are some of the well remembered serials along with many award winning documentaries.

At present her brand name of “Saree Sanskriti” is creating waves in the fashion world. Its uniqueness lies in its collection of sarees of unusual weaves and patterns which are not available in the market along with the hand crafted specimens which are being crafted in her studio ie. Naurah Design house which creates and customizes.

The underlying motivation for this passion is to showcase the skills of our weavers and a glory of our heritage.

She wants to be the part of their journey and wants to facilitate their dreams.
